Developing Grit

At the Illinois Reading Conference in Springfield this October, I attended a presentation by Staff Development for Educators (SDE) Jim Grant on "Grit, Mindset, and Determination: The Key to Perseverance."  Since then, I have been inspired to find more information on how to use grit and perseverance lessons in my classroom to help motivate my students.  Furthermore, these skills carry over into the athletic world as well.  As a high school basketball and softball coach, I can see how my athletes benefit from embracing these intangible qualities as they develop grit traits.
